First Adult UK Passport
For British citizens who have never held a UK passport.
Apply for my first UK passport →Urgent UK passport service worldwide
British by birth, descent or family history, but never held a UK passport? We manage the whole application from overseas: the evidence, the checks, the UK-side process and the delivery.
£1,499 all-inclusive, around 4 weeks, best endeavours.
First adult applications are the most document-heavy service we offer, which is exactly why they stall when people attempt them alone. One missing certificate, one name that does not match across two documents, and you are weeks behind. We check every piece of evidence before anything is submitted.
This service is around 4 weeks on a best-endeavours basis. We do not guarantee it, and here is the honest reason why.
On a renewal, your existing passport does most of the identity work, so the timeline is predictable and we can guarantee it. On a first application there is no existing passport record. Citizenship has to be established from source documents, and HM Passport Office may come back asking for more. No agent can honestly promise that will not happen.
What we do promise: your evidence will be checked and correct before it is submitted, we will tell you honestly whether your travel date is realistic before you pay, and we will manage the UK-side process and keep you updated throughout.
If you have travel booked and the date is tight, say so at the outset.
Almost never on the law. Nearly always on the paperwork, and usually on paperwork that is forty years old.
If a certificate is missing or was never held, we can help obtain a replacement. That comes at additional cost and we always quote first.
Most people applying for a first British passport already hold another nationality and have travelled on it their whole life. That is normal and it does not complicate your entitlement.
What it does affect is name matching. The name on your foreign passport may not match the name on your British evidence: a different transliteration, a married name adopted abroad, or a middle name dropped decades ago. We check that alignment before submission, because a mismatch between your existing passport and your British documents is exactly the sort of thing that generates a query.

British citizen or dual national travelling to the UK? You may not be able to rely on a foreign passport alone. If your UK passport is expired, very old, lost, damaged or never applied for, you risk problems at check-in or boarding. ASAP can help you get your UK passport fast from overseas.
Since 25 February 2026, British and Irish citizens cannot get a UK ETA, so you are expected to prove your citizenship with a valid British passport. If you are British but have always travelled on another passport, this is the change that affects you most directly. And because a first application takes around 4 weeks and cannot be guaranteed, it is the one to start earliest.
“When the recent UK entry rules changed for people who have dual citizenship, weeks before we were due to travel, we knew we would be at risk of not having a British passport in time. We googled and found ASAP passports. We enquired online and within a couple of hours Jacob called us, despite it being well after business hours. He was thorough, informative and empathetic to our situation. He talked us through the options and after we decided to move forward, he supported us through the process (including finding old expired passport history, birth certificates etc). Jacob kept us updated the whole way and even after the passport was delivered he checked in to make sure all was ok. Customer service is often non existent these days even when paying a premium, but in this instance the expense was 100% worth it. Highly recommend.”
£1,499 all-inclusive: the ASAP service fee, HM Passport Office fees, DHL Express courier collection, secure global air freight and return delivery to your overseas address.
Additional costs apply only where official evidence has to be obtained for you, such as a replacement birth certificate or marriage certificate. On first applications this is more likely than on a renewal, so we flag it early and always quote before spending anything.
ASAP Passports is an independent UK company and a registered UK passport agent. We are not GOV.UK or HM Passport Office. Your passport is still issued by HM Passport Office. What we do is manage the UK-side process so your application never sits in the standard overseas queue.
More than 700 British citizens worldwide have used the service. We are a 5-star Google-reviewed service and an official DHL Express courier partner.
Ready when you are
Tell us where you were born, where your British parent or grandparent was born, and when you need to travel. We confirm exactly what your case needs before you commit a penny.
Around 4 weeks on a best-endeavours basis. We do not guarantee this service, because citizenship has to be established from source documents on a first application and HM Passport Office may request further evidence. We will tell you honestly before you pay whether your travel date is realistic.
Because a renewal leans on your existing passport record, which makes the timeline predictable and controllable. A first application has no such record. Guaranteeing it would mean promising something outside our control, and we would rather be straight with you than sell you a promise we cannot keep.
Yes, and this is a common starting point. Tell us where you were born, where your parents were born and what their status was at the time. Being born in the UK before 1 January 1983 is usually straightforward. After that date it depends on your parents, and if you were born overseas you will usually be relying on descent. If your case is genuinely uncertain rather than just undocumented, we will say so early.
Typically your full birth certificate showing your parents, your parents' birth and marriage certificates where descent runs through them, evidence bridging any name differences across those documents, evidence of any name change of your own, and a compliant photo. We confirm exactly what your case needs before submission.
It is usually obtainable. Replacement birth, marriage and death certificates can generally be ordered from the relevant registry, and we can help arrange that. It is an additional cost outside the £1,499 and we always quote before spending anything.
It is manageable, but it must be addressed rather than ignored. A mismatch between your existing passport and your British evidence is exactly what generates a query. We check the alignment before submission and advise what evidence bridges the difference.
Probably not. See very old UK passports. If your last passport was issued after 2002 you may qualify for our 2-week guaranteed VIP renewal, and 1994 to 2001 may qualify for Gold. Only pre-1994 or genuinely unclear histories are treated as first-time applications.
Yes. First child passports are also £1,499, around 4 weeks, best endeavours, and the descent evidence often overlaps with yours. See child UK passports. Tell us who needs what and we will coordinate the document gathering so it happens once.
The ASAP service fee, HM Passport Office fees, DHL Express collection, secure air freight and return delivery to your overseas address. Extra costs arise only where official evidence has to be obtained for you, and we always quote before spending anything.
